Our Little Farm Projects

01
Our Roadside Farm Stand
When I was trying to sell this idea to my family they thought it was absolutely crazy. Once we had our first visitor the whole crazy project made sense to everyone. Since opening the farm stand we have added a Little Free Library section and an interactive chicken feeding area.
Some cities may require you to obtain annual permitting and hold insurance, so if you are thinking of opening your own stand be sure to visit your local building department to inquire first.
In most states you can operate under the Cottage Food Law which allows you to create certain items in your home to sell at your property or through farmers markets.
02
Obtaining The Limited Poultry & Egg Operation Permit
The project is finished! I will soon update this with the steps it took us to create this venture.

03
Raising Cornish Cross
While raising your own meat birds is a big task it is well worth it in the end. I will update this section with some of the ups and downs that I have experienced over the years very soon.
04
Building Our Food Forest
Our family has always gardened to an extent but during Covid we decided we needed to step up our game in order to supply more of our own foods. We sectioned of our yard into two areas limiting animal access to the area pictures to allow us to plant vegetable crops. We added several fruit trees including; papaya, banana, mango, passion fruit and even a coffee bean tree. While gardening in Florida is way different than gardening in Oregon we have adapted and now get to enjoy four growing seasons!
